Creating Dimension With Scalloped Borders by Deana!

Something I find myself doing a lot recently is creating with scalloped-edge papers. My favorite way to use them is to cut them into border strips, adhere them & then flip them up a bit to create some dimension on my page. On my first layout, I cut 1 scalloped border into 3 small pieces, so I could manipulate it into a flag banner shape, adhered them to my page & added some raffia & buttons on top. Then I flipped the edges of the scallops out...

On my next page, I used 4 scalloped-edge borders, but machine-stitched over the top row. I was inspired by a ruffled J Crew sweater I purchased a few months ago...

You don’t have a pre-made scalloped-edge border? Make one! On this lay-out I used a circle punch & then placed a strip of patterned paper over the top so only ½ of each circle was in view. I inked the edges & then flipped each out just a bit...

Another way to make your own scallops is to use a Fiskars border punch, like I did on this next card. I added 2 strips at the bottom, machine-stitched over the top of both & then flipped out the top strip to create the look of grass…

I hope this gives you a few new ideas for scalloped borders! Thanks again for allowing me this opportunity to be part of such an inspiring blog!
