Using Letters as Frames

We have some wonderful templates here at Ideas for Scrapbookers that use a large letter for a frame. These are fun templates to work with. I have also seen scrapbook artists use a whole word in this fashion. While I can’t recall the specific examples of this from the many sites I have visited, I did want to give this a try. If you have pets like I do, then from time to time it is fun to feature their pictures on a page. So today I decided to use the word “dogs” to frame some small photos of my two pets. Here is a page featuring Gracie and Truman my two labs.

I own a digital craft cutter so I actually cut these large letters out using this tool. The font is Modern 735 BT. Really any font that is tall and narrow would probably produce a good look. For the pictures I cropped the photos using Photoshop Elements to small shapts 1”- 1.25 by 2 - 3.5”. By cropping the photos before I printed them I knew exactly how much of the picture I was going to fit in the small space.

I know many of you may not own a digital craft cutter, but you can still achieve this look by using a template. So I have attached a template with the word “Dogs” for you to use for cutting letters out by hand.

Hope you will have some fun with this!
