Creating a Flower Gift Holder by Melanie J.!

For end-of-the-school-year teacher gifts this year, I made flower gift card holders. The teachers loved them! They are easy to make and so fun to create.

Flower gift card holders

Supplies needed: sheet of patterned paper, journaling spots, die-cutting machine or template, sewing machine and thread, ruler, pencil

1. Using a die-cut machine or a template, cut a 4-inch flower shape from patterned paper.

2. Center the gift card under your journaling spot and lightly mark 1/8” from each side of the card on the top and bottom of the journaling spot. These will be your markings to sew from one to the other.
You will have four markings on the circle.

3. Place your journaling spot in the center of the flower.

4. Carefully straight-stitch from the top marking to the bottom marking. Do this on both sides of the journaling spot.

5. Slide gift card inside and embellish the journaling spot or journal your message.

You can use the flower on a card like this:

Or, you can incorporate it into a flower pot like this:

I added some Spanish moss to the flower pot, and secured a green plastic knife to the back of each flower for the stem.
