Halloween Sign using Silhouette Cameo

I'm having some fun with vinyl!  I've just gotten some vinyl for cutting with my Silhouette Cameo and I've found a new crafty must have!! Let me take you through the making of this sign.

I painted the wood, orange on the surface and black on the edges.

I designed the sign layout in the Silhouette Software.  I then cut it out of vinyl. I weeded the pieces of vinyl where I wanted to paint the sign.

I laid the vinyl carefully on the painted sign being certain to have all edges firmly tacked down.

Using a sponge brush, I applied the black paint. After it dried, I applied Top Emboss to the word "bewitchy" and sprinkled it with some WOW black glitter embossing powder, which I heat embossed.

I used WOW silver glitter embossing powder on the cauldron accent and to create the steam.  I also applied some black glitter to the edges of the sign. I lightly sanded the edges and some of the surface of the sign for a slight distressed look.

New Tool Tutorial

Today I want to share with you a new tool that I cant live without! In my recent shipment of goodies from The Paper Trail I received the Sew Easy Stitch Piercer tool from We R Memory keepers. I love to add stitching to my layouts and cards but I usually do it by hand. I was very interested in the detachable heads that you can get for tool as they will create different patters such as scallops to stitch. Well, I used it and I LOVED it!!! It made adding a designed stitch 'Sew Easy'! Today I thought I would share a demo and a few things with you on how to use it.

To start your stitching have your paper cut to the size you need, a good ruler, a foam mat and your Sew Easy tool.
NOTE- I did try and stitch through 2 layers of paper and this did not work well for me. I recommend only one layer of paper.

Line your ruler up along side your paper where you want your stitching to be. Keep in mind the stitching will be about 1/4 inch from the side of the ruler. Be sure you have all this placed on your foam mat or your tool will not roll smoothly and you will dull the points on the Sew Easy tool by pressing it in to a hard surface. Hold your ruler with one hand and firmly and smoothly press your Sew Easy tool down and forward until you go all the way off your paper.

I then selected my thread color and with a needle followed the stitching pattern to create this beautiful design!

Folded Flower Border

If you are like me when flower were first introduced to the scrapbooking world you bought them all!!! Now more embellished and detailed flowers on the market (and they are beautiful!) but dont give up on your original flowers yet, here is a unique way to put them to use!

This is a gift card holder I made and but I want to show you how to create the flower border so you can replicated it on a layout, card or any other project! Its easy!

Select your flower (the amount will depend on the size of your flower and the length of your border). I have chosen 2 colors and I will alternate them.

Fold your flower in half.

Fold your flower in half again.

Glue dot your folded flower to the back side of your border.

Repeat this process until your border is full!!

And their you have a fun new border!

Fan Fold Flower Demo

In case you have not noticed yet, I am in love with my circle punches!  Today I have another demo for you with a circle punch. 

 To start your Fan Folded Flower you will need to punch 4 circles the same size. I have used a 1 3/4 inch circle punch.  Then cut each circle in half.

 You will take 7 half circles (keep the eighth one in case you have a problem with one of the others) and ink the edges. 

 Take one of the half circles and fold 1/3 of it over with the pattern you want to show on the top.

 Then repeat this fold in a 'fan fold' effect 2 more times (total of 3 folds).

 Once you have fan folded all 7 half circles cut a smaller circle out of the same paper to serve as you base to build your flower on. Cover the base with a clear glue and then place your fan folded pieces around the circle until they are all on.

You can then squish the fold down to make it flatter of leave it so that your flower has more dimension.

 

 Add a center of your choice. 

And add it to your layout, card or paper craft project! 

So many uses for a simple circle punch!
