Good morning!!! Sara here today with some inside info from all of the artists here at Ideas For Scrapbookers. We have done a segment or two like this in the past where the artists all answer the a series of qusestions. So it was my turn to ask the question and it was tough to come up with some but I think you will like what you see.
1) Tell us how your first got involved in scrapbooking.
Pam- I went a Creative Memories crop with a friend shortly after my son, Sean, was born in 2002/2003. From then on I was hooked. I couldn't afford any of the Creative Memories supplies so I went to a local scrapbook store and bought a bunch of scrappy supplies to get me started.
Lisa - It was my mother, because she had so many photos and was not able to tell me much about them? So I decided that I wanted to make sure that my future knew who I was talking about, when and what the photos were all about.
Nancy - I first began scrapping when my son was almost one years old. I had seen a few friends complete their children's baby books and decided to give it a try. Having been a librarian, I began with using archival library supplies.
Cathy - I used to make scrapbooks as a child. They were that old style hinged book with paper pages. Most people used photo corners to attach items to them. I've always been a hobbyist photographer and love to preserve both my photos and memories. Then after I had children, I started to create what we refer to as traditional paper scrapbook pages today. A few years ago I got a DSLR camera. I started teaching myself Photoshop and that helped me get hooked on digital scrapbooking and designing. I;m still totally addicted to using scissors and glue, so I do a lot of hybrid and altered art/mixed media work.
Heather - The first scrapbook I ever made was given to me as a gift from my grandma. I put it together and threw a few of my high school photos in it and promptly lost interest. It wasn't until years later when my daughters' social workers told me about "life books" for adopted children that I really got in to scrapbooking. Once I finished my girls' life books I just kept going.
Vicky - decided to stay home after having my children and missed the creative aspect of my marketing job. I always knew I wanted to do something special with the family photos and once I started looking at design galleries to start my new hobby... I was hooked before even touching paper, LOL.
2) Do you prefer Paper or Digi Scrapbooking? Why?
Pam - I prefer paper scrapbooking over digital scrapbooking because I like the creative process with paper better. There is something nice about using real paper and adhesive. Sometimes, I do create digi pages, especially when I see a cute digital kit I love.
Lisa - I LOVE PAPER! It is because there is so many 3D effects and the hands on of the creation makes me feel like I gave part of me into it.
Nancy - I prefer paper scrapbooking. While I would love to learn digital, I really love the feel of paper and all the gorgeous embellishments.
Cathy - I love the convenience of digital scrapbooking. I can do it anywhere that I can take a computer. And the eas of clean up after finishing a digital project. But some days I still need to work with "real" paper. That's why I love hybrid crafting! It mixes the best of both worlds for me!
Heather - I do both equally. There's nothing like getting messy and inky with a paper scrapbook page. I love the feel of the materials in my hands. I love digital because of it's portability and the quicker clean up factor. Plus, there's an UNDO button! That means no messy mistakes. I love it.
Vicky - Paper - I love the layered and distressed look... plus I think we sit for way too many hours in front of computer screens as it is.
3) If you could design for ANY manufacture who would it be?
Pam - I have sort of been there done that with companies. I have had the honor to design for some of the best companies such as GCD Studios, DCWV, Pebbles, Anna Griffin, and a few others. I am taking a break from that and concentrating on scrapping for fun and also creating projects for this blog. Sometime I may get back into that :)
Lisa - I would design for CRICUT…. because I love all the shapes and I use it so much…I think it is a great tool that is perfect for every page.
Nancy - Right now I have so many favorites, it would be hard to choose. I love Crate Paper, Prima, Pink Paislee...so any of those would be a dream job.
Cathy - There are too many to choose from. I love Webster's, October Afternoon, Echo Park, Cosmo Cricket, Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft... and the list goes on. I also love the digital designers at ScrapMatters and The Digi Chick and would love to design with them!
Heather - This is a hard one. There are so many amazing companies out there. I would say American Crafts because I am a Thicker-a-holic. You don't even WANT to know how many packs I have.
Vicky - Prima for sure... I can't resist their flowers! But for paper, I am lucky to already design for my fave - Pion Design.
4) Share with us 3 of your favorite places to shop online for scrapbook supplies.
Pam - Scrapbook.com is pretty much the only place I shop online at. (http://www.scrapbook.com/). I used to love to shop at Lifetime Moments but they closed and it broke my heart!

5) What do you do with your scrap paper and how do you store it?
Pam - I store most of my paper in vertical paper holders. I love how you can see every single sheet with ease! I store my cardstock in stackable paper trays sorted by color.
Lisa - Oh my…I’m a total hoarder! I keep all my scraps in a huge cardboard box and when I need a piece of a specific color I dig though it till there is nothing left! Literally! Most of the time I can’t find the bottom…but I still keep it…just in case!
Nancy - I am not very good with my scraps. I try to keep them in an old Crop in Style paper taker by color. But mostly they just pile up. I do try and use them to make cards and cuts with my cricut.
Cathy - My "real" papers are kept by manufacturer/collection. I store them in some of those white scrapbook storage cubes that you can get at most hobby stores. I also have some stored in a plastic set of drawers on wheels. For my digital papers, I set up folders for each digital designer and then sub-folders for the kit or collection. This way it is always easy for me to find coordinating items and to give proper credit on the projects that I create.
Heather - My scrap paper is sorted by color and stored in cheap plastic page protectors. I then file it in a cropper hopper and pull pieces as needed.
Vicky - I put them in large ziplock bags by collection and store in a plastic drawer organizer. Since I make a lot of handmade flowers, I don't have a lot of scraps. Sometimes they end up with the kids for their crafts too.

Stamp Storage
How do you store your stamps? I see this question repeatedly in scrap forums. There are as many possibilities for methods to store stamps as there are scrapbookers! I thought I would share some ways that we store our stamps.
Stamps are one of my addictions. I really love using them when I make cards, to create elements for my pages, for hybrid and altering projects. I just love stamps. As I keep collecting them, storing my stamps has been a challenge.
Nancy shared her storage for stamps (photo above). She mainly has clear acrylic stamps.She keeps them neatly stored away in D-ring style scrapbook (that she snagged on sale!). She uses the C-Line Memory Book Organizer Pages to slip her stamps in and place in her book.
Lisa does something similar with her clear stamps. She use a 3-ring binder with sheet protectors for storing her clear acrylic stamps.
My wood mounted stamps are stored in a set of plastic stackable drawers. Now this is great for keeping them all corralled but, as you can see in the photo, it’s not easy to see all the stamps that are in the drawer. I’ve seen some people that use a small lipped shelf around their craft area to place their wood mount stamps. It makes really nice display as well as storage. I just don’t have that much crafting space. So my solutions tend to be cost and space conscious. If you have the space to do it, it would really look nice!
I’ve also seen people remove their stamps from the wood blocks to make storing them easier as it saves on the space needed. Basically it turns the wood mounted stamps into cling mounted rubber stamps.
I have a growing collection of cling-mounted rubber stamps myself. Some are from a monthly kit. I wanted a solution that allowed me to keep all the stamps from a month’s collection together. I found these great binders from Univenture that can hold plastic inserts to attach the stamps to. The binders are only $1.02 each! I can get a complete monthly kit into the binder and they take up minimal shelf space. I’m thinking about regrouping my other cling mount stamps into these binders as well. Perhaps one for Christmas, one for birthday, etc.
Once I have the stamps arranged on the insert, I make an imprint of it. I adhere that to the facing page in the binder. This gives me a quick visual of the stamp images as well as the layout of how I have the stamps arranged.
At the same web page where you can purchase the binders, are downloads for formatting a binder cover insert. Now you could have fun making it really pretty using your traditional or hybrid supplies. But I’m on a mission to get my area reorganized and just simply typed in the title for my binders and printed them. I then adhere the image samples that ship with the stamps to the front. Simple, fast and done!
Dolores has this great clear plastic containers to store her stamps. She is able to store wood mount, clear, rubber, any type of stamps in them. I like that they have colors to them as well.
Heather uses a similar idea. She has some inexpensive plastic tubs that allow her to store her stamps and see what is inside. Being a frugal scrapper, I love ideas that save us money. As Heather said, she'd rather spend the money on supplies rather than storage!

Friday Special: Ask the Artists!!
Hi everyone!! Today we are doing something a little different! We are taking a day off from featured artists and doing another round of “ask the artists”! I always like a chance for everyone to get to know our contributing artists better! So here we go!!
1. What does every scrapbooker need? What are YOUR scrapbook essentials?
Cathy: Patience! And a good pair of scissors. My essentials include my trimmer, cutter-bee scissors, ATG gun and precision mat.
Cindy: My number one essential need is TIME.....I find there is never enough! When I do find the time my two top favs have to be my Cricut because I love the options it provides, and my DSLR camera. I was a point and shoot camera gal before, and after switching to DSLR. I LOVE the way my photographs turn out. I also love my printer as it can print any size as little as a 1x1 up to a 13 x 17, which is really nice.
Dolores: I had to think a bit about this question, because my scrapbook essentials might be quite different from someone else. I have some tools that are “old habits” that I just won't give up, like my cutting mat, rotary cutter and clear 12” x 6” quilter's ruler. I use these tools for everything, trimming pictures, cutting mats, creating mitered corners with punched borders, lining up titles on my layouts. These are on my scrapbook table constantly. On the flip side I love my digital craft cutters and depend on them to save me time. I work full time so tools that save me time really give me more time to scrapbook.
Heather: I have to have neutral colored cardstock, and fabulous patterned paper. My current favorites are October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket. I also have to have small detail scissors for fussy cutting, and border punches!
Lydia: My scrapbook essentials are my papers and all my cutting tools. I.E Fiskars circle cutter and straight cutter. With these things you can do anything. The ideas are endless. O' one more thing that a scrapbooker needs is snacks, caffeine, candy, and anything to help you make it through the long nights of creativeness. :)
Nancy: My go to items when scrapbooking are patterned paper, distress inks, and my micro-tip scissors. I don't think I do many layouts that don't include these items.
Sarah: In my opinion, every scrapbooker needs the following: scissors, paper trimmer, paper (either patterned paper or cardstock), adhesive, and PICTURES! You can scrapbook without pictures, but it's always nice to have some to work with!
Susan: I have found that I use my paper piercer almost every time I scrap and for much more than just piercing paper. It's great to pick up glue dots and place them precisely. I use it to move tiny pieces around on my layout...and of course, I use it to punch holes when I just want holes.or when I want to sew on the layout.
2. What is one project that you weren’t happy with how it turned out? Did you re-do it or did you keep it as is?
Cathy: It is one of my very first ever scrapbook pages. It includes photos from my wedding. The page is so simplistic and lacking in color. I've not yet re-done yet, but hope to someday.
Cindy: This was a page about Halloween. I was not happy with the first overall result, and redid the layout using one of Pam's templates for one of the pages (it ended up a two-page layout instead of one). It is funny as now that I look back, I don't hate the original page as much as I did at the time!
Dolores: When I go hiking or take a vacation where I have lots of pictures I want to use together, a 2 page layout with grouped photos is great. I did the following layout with some pictures from a fall hike. While I really liked the pictures, I was dissatisfied with the result. I think the design is OK, but I really went wrong with the blue mat behind the main large picture. The mat did not have enough contrast with my green background paper, so the grouped photos don't feel anchored. It has a broken up feel, like the pictures are just floating on the page. I never redid the layout, but if I were to rework it I would mat the photos differently to make the grouped photos feel move like a single unit.
Heather: For some reason I'm really unhappy with this layout. It's a lot busier than I normally would like. I do not plan on going back to redo it. I have too many photos to scrap to go back and redo older layouts!
Lydia: I have a few that I didn't like how it turned out, but this is the one out of them all. I didn't redo it at all.
Nancy: I have this layout that is sitting in my "to-do" pile. I don't love it, but haven't gotten around to fixing it either.
Sarah: I feel that each layout I do is a piece of art, so I try not to get too upset with it. Do I regret making it? ...Nope! Not at all. I didn't go back and redo anything on this one. I created it for a sketch challenge over at Kiki Art. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I guess it started to grow on me after a while.
Susan: I’m not sure where I was going with this layout (Little Boy). I was doing it for a color challenge that allowed black, white and one other color. This one definitely did not turn out as I had imagined it, but I decided to leave it alone, and I think after looking at it for a while, I grew to like it more.
3. What is one project that turned out better than you originally expected? What made it special?
Cathy: We were visiting Disney World with some friends of ours and one evening their daughter was dressed as a princess. The two of us were waiting outside while the rest of our group enjoyed a ride. She was so cute chatting and dancing about. I snapped this photo of her. When I started scrapping it I really didn't plan in advance. Then I just kept adding things to the page. I'm not really a bulky scrapper, so this was a bit different for me. I gave it to her, she loved it.
Cindy: This layout turned out better than expected. It was a simple design that I did in 15 minutes, so my expectations were not much. But once it was complete I really loved how the bright colors of the farm, the sky, and the landscape/flowers worked so well together.
Dolores: With the following layout I was trying to do something different by using a cut out shape and the negative shape created by the paper the shape was cut from, sort of a positive/negative effect. I wanted the two shapes to have equal importance of the page so I tried to use good contrasting colors. In my layout the flourishes because my positive/negative shapes and while they are prominent parts of the layout they didn't take over the design. When I finished the layout I was really liked the end result.
Heather: I don't usually use brightly colored cardstock as my background so I was really iffy about this design. Once I got the layout put together, I decided I loved the color combination. This layout is special to me because I actually scrapped a photo of myself. I don't do that too often.
Lydia: I love how my "Chunky Monkey layout" turned out. I dont know what it was, but the outcome is what I love!
Nancy: I had this idea for a mini album of the rooms in my house. I really was happy when it turned out so well. I am glad I did it as I know in the future my family won't really remember what the rooms they grew up in looked like.
Sarah: Honestly, I was dreading this one when I got started on it. I felt like the colors of my photos and the papers weren't coordinating. I decided to mist it to add color. In the end, I was super proud of finishing this one! Why?! Well, let's just say that I used Imaginisce's latest wedding/love paper into Halloween-themed paper, hehe! :)
Susan: When I did “One Summer Morning”, every time I looked at the photo, it spoke to me…I know…don’t laugh! It looked like I was looking out of a window and watching my grandchildren together. The idea was born…I’d just make a window. I continued with the theme and made a few household “embellishments” like the table, flowerpot with flowers, scarf on the table…you get the picture. When I was finished with it, I was very hesitant to share it, because I wasn’t sure everyone would see what I saw in the photo. Now when I look at the layout, I’m captured by the “realness” of the view through the window.
4. If you by chance ever wrote an idea book or taught a class, what would be the title of the book or theme of the class be?
Cathy: I think I would go with a title like "How to Express Yourself through Art". I really enjoy sharing a bit of myself in each piece I design.
Cindy: I think if I were teaching a class it would be called " If I Can Do It You Can Do It (a class for anyone who thinks they have no craftiness in them)". I come from a family of talented artists. My Mother can paint beautiful and can sew and make furniture and do anything crafty, and my Dad is an engineer and can draw amazingly. Even my brother can draw and paint. Growing up I thought I was the odd one out, but instead I was just waiting for scrapbooking to find me.
Dolores: If I had the time to write a book it would be about one of two topics. I would enjoy writing about how to take great photos for scrapbook pages, because I love photography and maximizing the look of pictures through photo editing. The other topic that would be using color effectively in layouts. I am a watercolor painter and learned so much about colors, color harmonies, contrast, etc that it would be fun to write a book about how to apply all these design guidelines to scrapbook pages.
Heather: Crazy about Chipboard or Misting Memories. I love chipboard and mists!
Lydia: Scrapbooking for Kids and their parents will be my book title. My theme for my class is old kids supplies new look.(HINT TO LOOK FOR)
Nancy: "More is always better". I have a tendency, when I don't like a project, to just keep adding more flowers, trims, etc, until I do.
Sarah: If I could write an idea book, I would title it "Scrapbook Your Pets: They're Family Too"
Susan: Let’s Cover Up Those Mistakes! Yep, that’s a good class. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to re-adjust my layout to cover up and “mistake”! Much better to do that than to start over again.
5. My favorite page about myself is "__________".
Cathy: Resolve.
Cindy: I have so few pages about myself. One, because I am always unhappy with how I photograph and two, I am always the one taking the photos....BUT even if I had tons of layouts about myself, I still think this one would be my favorite. Not because of the layout, as it has a very very basic design, but because of the meaning of the page. The layout is about myself and my closest & oldest friend participating in the Baltimore Marathon to raise money for Leukemia research in my Dad's name, as my Father is currently living with Leukemia.
Dolores: This question made me stop and look through my scrapbook pages because while I have a lot of layouts with my picture, I can't say very many of them are truly about me. It's usually my husband and I, friends, me and my dogs. Maybe I should take some time to share a bit about myself more often. So here is a layout just titled “Autumn”. It is my favorite time of year and I always feel it doesn't last long enough.
Heather: This is my favorite page about myself because it shows me with all three of my children. It's VERY hard to get everyone in a photo. It's even harder to get them to look the same way. LOL It's not the best photo ever, but i
Lydia: My all time favorite of myself is this one! I know there are other in the photos, but the journaling explains it more.
Nancy: CHA, because I had such a good time attending and I really liked the mix of patterned papers and fabric.
Sarah: My favorite page about myself is one that includes my family. It is entitled, "Buildin' Block", and it is currently out for publication. However, it will be featured in an upcoming Memory Makers book. I can't wait to share it with everyone!
Susan: My favorite page about me, is my layout “Yesteryear”. It’s one of my favorite photos of me when I was small. Even then I looked like I had a bit of an attitude! LOL! I used Graphic 45 papers and they were just perfect for the theme of my layout.

The mat did not have enough contrast with my green background paper, so the grouped photos don't feel anchored. It has a broken up feel, like the pictures are just floating on the page. I never redid the layout, but if I were to rework it I would mat the photos differently to make the grouped photos feel move like a single unit.
Heather: For some reason I'm really unhappy with this layout. It's a lot busier than I normally would like. I do not plan on going back to redo it. I have too many photos to scrap to go back and redo older layouts!
Lydia: I have a few that I didn't like how it turned out, but this is the one out of them all. I didn't redo it at all.
Nancy: I have this layout that is sitting in my "to-do" pile. I don't love it, but haven't gotten around to fixing it either.
Sarah: I feel that each layout I do is a piece of art, so I try not to get too upset with it. Do I regret making it? ...Nope! Not at all. I didn't go back and redo anything on this one. I created it for a sketch challenge over at Kiki Art. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I guess it started to grow on me after a while.
Susan: I’m not sure where I was going with this layout (Little Boy). I was doing it for a color challenge that allowed black, white and one other color. This one definitely did not turn out as I had imagined it, but I decided to leave it alone, and I think after looking at it for a while, I grew to like it more.
3. What is one project that turned out better than you originally expected? What made it special?
Cathy: We were visiting Disney World with some friends of ours and one evening their daughter was dressed as a princess. The two of us were waiting outside while the rest of our group enjoyed a ride. She was so cute chatting and dancing about. I snapped this photo of her. When I started scrapping it I really didn't plan in advance. Then I just kept adding things to the page. I'm not really a bulky scrapper, so this was a bit different for me. I gave it to her, she loved it.
Cindy: This layout turned out better than expected. It was a simple design that I did in 15 minutes, so my expectations were not much. But once it was complete I really loved how the bright colors of the farm, the sky, and the landscape/flowers worked so well together.
Dolores: With the following layout I was trying to do something different by using a cut out shape and the negative shape created by the paper the shape was cut from, sort of a positive/negative effect. I wanted the two shapes to have equal importance of the page so I tried to use good contrasting colors. In my layout the flourishes because my positive/negative shapes and while they are prominent parts of the layout they didn't take over the design. When I finished the layout I was really liked the end result.
Heather: I don't usually use brightly colored cardstock as my background so I was really iffy about this design. Once I got the layout put together, I decided I loved the color combination. This layout is special to me because I actually scrapped a photo of myself. I don't do that too often.
Lydia: I love how my "Chunky Monkey layout" turned out. I dont know what it was, but the outcome is what I love!
Nancy: I had this idea for a mini album of the rooms in my house. I really was happy when it turned out so well. I am glad I did it as I know in the future my family won't really remember what the rooms they grew up in looked like.
Sarah: Honestly, I was dreading this one when I got started on it. I felt like the colors of my photos and the papers weren't coordinating. I decided to mist it to add color. In the end, I was super proud of finishing this one! Why?! Well, let's just say that I used Imaginisce's latest wedding/love paper into Halloween-themed paper, hehe! :)
Susan: When I did “One Summer Morning”, every time I looked at the photo, it spoke to me…I know…don’t laugh! It looked like I was looking out of a window and watching my grandchildren together. The idea was born…I’d just make a window. I continued with the theme and made a few household “embellishments” like the table, flowerpot with flowers, scarf on the table…you get the picture. When I was finished with it, I was very hesitant to share it, because I wasn’t sure everyone would see what I saw in the photo. Now when I look at the layout, I’m captured by the “realness” of the view through the window.
4. If you by chance ever wrote an idea book or taught a class, what would be the title of the book or theme of the class be?
Cathy: I think I would go with a title like "How to Express Yourself through Art". I really enjoy sharing a bit of myself in each piece I design.
Cindy: I think if I were teaching a class it would be called " If I Can Do It You Can Do It (a class for anyone who thinks they have no craftiness in them)". I come from a family of talented artists. My Mother can paint beautiful and can sew and make furniture and do anything crafty, and my Dad is an engineer and can draw amazingly. Even my brother can draw and paint. Growing up I thought I was the odd one out, but instead I was just waiting for scrapbooking to find me.
Dolores: If I had the time to write a book it would be about one of two topics. I would enjoy writing about how to take great photos for scrapbook pages, because I love photography and maximizing the look of pictures through photo editing. The other topic that would be using color effectively in layouts. I am a watercolor painter and learned so much about colors, color harmonies, contrast, etc that it would be fun to write a book about how to apply all these design guidelines to scrapbook pages.
Heather: Crazy about Chipboard or Misting Memories. I love chipboard and mists!
Lydia: Scrapbooking for Kids and their parents will be my book title. My theme for my class is old kids supplies new look.(HINT TO LOOK FOR)
Nancy: "More is always better". I have a tendency, when I don't like a project, to just keep adding more flowers, trims, etc, until I do.
Sarah: If I could write an idea book, I would title it "Scrapbook Your Pets: They're Family Too"
Susan: Let’s Cover Up Those Mistakes! Yep, that’s a good class. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to re-adjust my layout to cover up and “mistake”! Much better to do that than to start over again.
5. My favorite page about myself is "__________".
Cathy: Resolve.
Cindy: I have so few pages about myself. One, because I am always unhappy with how I photograph and two, I am always the one taking the photos....BUT even if I had tons of layouts about myself, I still think this one would be my favorite. Not because of the layout, as it has a very very basic design, but because of the meaning of the page. The layout is about myself and my closest & oldest friend participating in the Baltimore Marathon to raise money for Leukemia research in my Dad's name, as my Father is currently living with Leukemia.
Dolores: This question made me stop and look through my scrapbook pages because while I have a lot of layouts with my picture, I can't say very many of them are truly about me. It's usually my husband and I, friends, me and my dogs. Maybe I should take some time to share a bit about myself more often. So here is a layout just titled “Autumn”. It is my favorite time of year and I always feel it doesn't last long enough.
Heather: This is my favorite page about myself because it shows me with all three of my children. It's VERY hard to get everyone in a photo. It's even harder to get them to look the same way. LOL It's not the best photo ever, but i
Lydia: My all time favorite of myself is this one! I know there are other in the photos, but the journaling explains it more.
Nancy: CHA, because I had such a good time attending and I really liked the mix of patterned papers and fabric.
Sarah: My favorite page about myself is one that includes my family. It is entitled, "Buildin' Block", and it is currently out for publication. However, it will be featured in an upcoming Memory Makers book. I can't wait to share it with everyone!
Susan: My favorite page about me, is my layout “Yesteryear”. It’s one of my favorite photos of me when I was small. Even then I looked like I had a bit of an attitude! LOL! I used Graphic 45 papers and they were just perfect for the theme of my layout.

What are your crafting "must have" items?
Today is “tax” day in the US. Perhaps you are getting a refund. Looking for something special to spend that on? I thought this would be a good day to look at ways to splurge on something new for your crafty collection. There are so many wonderful products on the market, while we’d love to show you ALL of them here, we just don’t have that much space! So to narrow it down, I “Asked the Artists”. Here are the go-to, must have items for some of the Contributing Artists here at Ideas For Scrapbookers.
Pam: “My go to tools are the border punches (esp. the scallop ones) that are all the rage right now. I could use those on every single page!”
Susan & Lydia: “For me it’s my Fiskars 12 inch Portable Paper Trimmer.”
Dolores: “My favorite tool is a digital craft cutter since I use one of the two I have on almost every layout. I am so busy, it just saves lots of time and I love the ability to create custom shapes that are all my own.”
Cindy: “My go-to item is my file for sure. My edges are always rougher than I prefer and I file every time I scrap in order to smooth them out.”
Delaina: “My go to for sure always is my Paper PIERCER....can't hardly scrap without it.”
Heather: “My favorite scrapbooking tool is my Purple Cows 2 in 1 combo trimmer. Since I'm such a linear scrapper, I have to have straight lines! This trimmer is the only one I've found that cuts perfectly straight.”
Cathy: “I rely on my magnetic precision mat. I use the straight edge ruler to help line things up. I typically only get a few minutes here or there to scrap, so I love that the little magnets can hold my project-in-progress the way it is without having to apply adhesives. Then when I get time to come back to it, I can pick up right from where I left off.”
Sarah: “my go to item -- It's not necessarily a tool, but it's my MUST HAVE item. I can't live without patterned paper! With just patterned paper alone, a project can go a LONG way. I can use it for the base of a layout or create my own embellishment. The possibilities are endless.”

Ask the Artists
Have fun reading these questions that I asked the contributing artists ;) Isn't it fun to read what people like and such?
1. What are your favorite color combinations to scrap with?
Susan: The color combo I fall back on over and over is red, black, and white. But I also love the red and black with kraft paper. Then there is the blue/brown combo that really looks great. Really…do I have to chose just one?! LOL!
Sarah: I like brown and green shades put together, but in reality, I use all sorts of colors depending on the picture that I want to scrap. I think I've used every color combination you can possibly think of.
Melanie: Right now my pages are sporting lots of pink and brown and blue and brown (I have one boy, one girl - what can I say -grins.).
Julie: I love bright colors! I tend to use a lot of lime green, orange and teal in my work.
Heather: This is going to sound terrible, but my favorite colors to scrap with are neutrals. I love white, kraft, and black cardstock! I buy it in bulk because it matches everything, and always works. If I had to chose a particular color after that, I'd say I use a good bit of blue. Outside of scrapbooking, I love green! I have a green laptop, ipod, and purse.
Delaina: Pink, Red, and Brown
Cindy: Since I have a little boy I tend to use a lot of reds, blues, and browns.. But I really love the summer shades that I do not get to use near as much.....the pinks, greens, and yellows.
Cathy: Since I mainly scrap stuff about my boys, I love to work with blues, browns, oranges and greens.
2. What are some blogs you love to visit for inspiration?
Susan: Ideas for Scrapbookers, of course! This blog has something for everyone!
Sarah: I visit a compilation of other scrapbooking related blogs. I appreciate that a lot of them share their talent with the rest of the scrapbook world. For instance, I love Ideas for Scrapbookers! There's always something interesting and clever to read here. *wink*

Melanie: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is adhesive because I can't keep it on my scrapbook table . LOL, seriously, I bought the Glue Glider Pro and I have been known to buy 2-3 refills for one weekend!
Julie: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is the sales flyer because I'm trying to be frugal these days.
Heather: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is patterned paper because I'm totally addicted to it. I have more patterned paper than I will ever admit. LOL
Delaina: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is cardstock because I collect it ...LOL!
Cindy: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is journaling pads because I use them all the time. I use large ones for titles and embellishments, and I use the smaller ones for dates and notes regarding the page. I am also a sucker for paper pads.
Cathy: The first thing I grab at a scrapbook store is the basket to put all my goodies in because even if I tell myself I'm going in for *just* one thing, I know several things will catch my eye and I'll *have* to have them! When I am perusing the aisles, I probably spend the most time in the paper and stamp aisles. I can never seem to collect enough!
4. If you could have a superhero power, what would it be? Why?
Susan: I would like to have super energy, enough energy to get everything I want to do done without needing to rest or sleep before I can finish. Of course, if I just had more hours in the day, I wouldn’t need super energy!
Sarah: I would want to read people's mind, so that I could use that to my advantage. muhahahaha! Just kidding about the using it to my advantage part, but I really would LOVE to read people's minds. Then, I would know what to say or do around certain people. LOL.
Melanie: Oh, definitely, super speed, keeping up with the kids, the house, the pets, and the scrapping would be SO much easier!
Julie: Without a doubt... invisibility! I can't tell you the number of times in a day I'll mutter, "gee... to be a fly on that wall". I'm a Nosy Nellie! If I could listen in on a conversation not meant for my ears, and no one be the wiser, that'd be super! That'd be a SUPER power!
Heather: I would be able to alter time. I've always wanted to give myself more hours in a day to get things done!
Delaina: To Fly....then I could travel to every CHA for free.
Cindy: I would love to have the power to see into the future. It would be really cool to go 20 yrs from now, and see where my life it, and the man my son grew into to.
Cathy: Only one? Well I could wish for the power to be able to grant powers and then I could have all the powers I wanted and share them too! I'd like to be able to fly, but if I could only have one power, I'd really like to have the power to heal. Then I could help everyone that deals with chronic conditions like autism, cancer, multiple sclerosis, etc! Wow, just imagine all the power that could generate! And then we could use that to help us fly! :-)

Ask the Artists!
I thought it would be fun to ask the contributors questions ... so you could get to know them better! Once in a while, I will ask the contributors new questions and will post the answers here! 1. What is the strangest thing you have ever used on a scrapbook page?
Susan: I don't know that I've ever added anything strange to my scrapbook pages....unless jute cord from the hubby's tool box counts.
Sarah: One time, I came up with a challenge for a blog that require people to use toilet paper on their projects! Mine actually turned out okay. :)
Melanie: Nothing that I can think of on a page, but I did once alter a Bic pen box. Turned out rather cute, I might add...lol.
Julie: I've used popsicle sticks (on a layout where my Grandpa was sharing a popsicle with his dog, Punky), fiberglass window screening (on a cat layout) and a drink umbrella (2-for-1 margaritas, baby!).
Heather: I've used a coffee filter on my coffee page, and actual pantyhose on a layout about how I hate to wear them.
Delaina: Hair Pins (I painted them white).
Danielle: The strangest thing I used was a pregnancy test! With my first child I was just a little too excited! I have since replaced it with a photo of the test!!!
2. What is the latest you have ever stayed up scrapbooking, be honest :) ? What did you end up making?
Susan: I've been up until about 3 am scrapping.. The only thing I made was a mess - of the table, the floor, and the layout!
Sarah: I'd say around 1am. What did I end up making?! NOTHING! LOL.
Melanie: Hmmmm, I have been known to stay up until 4 AM at times, not to mention waking up in the middle of the night with ideas and having to write them down. I can assure you, NOTHING, I've made at 4 AM is worth mentioning.
Julie: I actually have problems going to sleep if I have a half completed project still rattling about in my head. I'm just one of those folks who have a difficult time sleeping, in general. I can't "shut down" easily. I'll toss and turn for hours, scrapping in my mind, until I finally give up and return to my scrap room. It's not unusual at all to find me at my scrap table at 3AM finishing up a layout.
Heather: I've pulled an all nighter before. My husband and oldest daughter were out of town at a NASCAR race. I scrapped all of the NASCAR photos from the year before while they were gone. I think it ended up being six layouts. There was paper EVERYWHERE after I was finished.
Delaina: I worked until 7:00am on a Lo with lots of hand stitching.
Danielle: The latest I have stayed up scrapping is 2am...because we HAD to leave! I would have stayed longer! I think I got 3 layouts and a card done in that 7 hour period!
3. If for some reason you had to choose between patterned paper OR cardstock indefinitely, which would you choose? Why?
Susan: I would probably chose cardstock. When I first started scrapping, ALL I used was cardstock. Patterned paper can be challenging to me - I'm much better with solid colors.
Sarah: I would definitely choose cardstock! You can always make your own patterns and embellishments using just cardstock. I promise, cardstock will go a LOOOOONG way! :)
Melanie: Hard decision, I am addicted to both. I'd keep cardstock though, you can take a plain piece of cardstock and do so many things to it.
Julie: Patterned paper. Definitely! I rarely use cardstock - when I do it's only as a base, or to mat a photo. Otherwise, I scrap exclusively with patterned papers. They fuel my creativity, the often inspire the overal design, and well they're almost like fashion to me. I can't wait for a new season to roll around so I can pull out my cute summer things or that amazing "little red number" I got on sale.
Heather: This one is hard, both are good for their own reasons, but I'd say cardstock because I could always doodle my own patterns, or stamp on it.
Delaina: I would have to choose Pattern Paper because I need variety.
Danielle: Patterned paper for sure!!!!! I seem to hoard it to be begin with! I cannot get enough of the different styles that come out! They are a wonderful source of inspiration so if I had to give it up I would be in trouble!
