Three Pet Pages Using Same Collection and Free Cutting Files

Hi everyone it's Pam here today sharing three pet pages with you using the brand new Chickaniddy Date Night Collection. This collection is so versatile! I am going to show you how to complete three completely different pet pages using different color combinations and papers. For each page I am going to share with you the color palette in paper form to help you get inspired.

My first page is about my dog, Gabby. She is such a loving, loyal dog. I wanted to capture in a not too girly but still in a sweet way- ya know she is a German Shepherd ;). The Date Night collection has all of the right colors to scrapbook here. I chose a little orange, with touches of mint, florals, and a great brown background.
Here is a close-up of how I did my journaling. I typed it out and put in the right amount of space so the papers and stickers would not overlap the journaling.

As for the color palette I chose, here is the color palette.
Supplies Chickaniddy Date Night Paper: Dance School (DN140S02), Cutest couple (DN140S05), Together is Better (DN140S09), Backwoods Lovin' (DN140S10), Downtown, (DN140S03), Spiffy Tags (DN140S07), Plaid is Rad (DN140S12); Alpha Stickers (DN14EB01); Sticker Sheet (DN14EB02); Mini Sticker Banner (DN14EB03); Mini Sticker Tags (DN14EB04); Enamel Hearts (DN14EB07); Brads (DN14EB06)
other: Tangerine Colored Cardstock, White Pen

For my next page I went with a whole different color palette. I created this fun layout about my dog and snow. It RARELY snows at all here so it is a treat for a dog who grew up mostly in northern Ohio. She just loves to snow even if it is a dusting. For this color palette, you can see I chose brighter colors from the Date Night Collection like the mint green, blues, oranges, and patterned white papers. I even die cut some foil paper with the word "fun". This page was inspired by a layout by Diane Payne here on the Chickaniddy blog!

Here is my color patterned paper palette.

Supplies Chickaniddy Date Night Paper: Cutest couple (DN140S05), Together is Better (DN140S09), Downtown, (DN140S03), Spiffy Tags (DN140S07), Plaid is Rad (DN140S12);  Mini Sticker Banner (DN14EB03); Mini Sticker Tags (DN14EB04); Enamel Hearts (DN14EB07); Brads (DN14EB06); 12X12 Silver Foil Paper (CN14SP002)
other: Tangerine Colored Cardstock, Green Cardstock, Photo Corners, White Pen

For my last page, I used the softer, sweeter patterns for a page about my dear cat. Mia is 14 years old but just as beautiful as ever. Her calico fur still looks great. I wanted to include softer muted colors so I would not overpower my photos. I chose the softer oranges, mints, grays and off white patterns. A New Hexagon Template & Sketch

Hi, it's Dolores here today to share a new template and sketch.  Hexagon shapes have been so popular that I thought I would try my hand at creating a template with them.  Hexagons are a great shape for utilizing many different papers and are an easy shape to build a beautiful background.  I think they create a pleasing look because everything on the page feels so connected.  Here is my layout with our sweet lab Maggie titled "3 Toys."

Never have we had a dog that liked toys more than Maggie.  She picks up as many as she can and follows me around until I give her some playtime.  This layout was created with a beautiful kit full of spring colors called "A Sunny Disposition" by Sherwood Studio.  Here is the sketch for our paper scrapbookers.

I have created a template file in PhotoShop that can be downloaded at either of the two file sharing sites below.

Have some fun with the hexagon shape!  Hope you enjoy the template and sketch.  Happy Scrapping!

Designer Showcase: Animals

We're going to the zoo this week as part of our Designer Showcase series! We are sharing projects about animals. Makes me want to sing along with Peter, Paul and Mary:

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo;
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too.
We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

Let's start with our new Contributing Artist, Marlene.  (You can "meet" Marlene at this post).  Isn't this page adorable?  I love the little party hats on the dogs!  The title is so perfect!  Everything on the page is so happy and bright. I really like the way she layered multiple mats of the same color cardstock. The inked edge adds a subtle detail that gives more dimension and texture to the page.

Marlene has also shared this layout about an encounter with some not so pleasant smelling skunks.  Love the way she has taken a stinky situation and turned it into something so pretty!  The stripes in the paper remind me of the stripe on the skunk, really clever. Look at how she has used the circle patterned paper in a design triangle to help bring your eyes to view the entire page, perfect!  By the way - Marlene used a sketch by our very own Heather to create this page! You can find that sketch here.

Cindy has shared two pages with us.  I really like how she captures so much of the memories by including multiple photos on her page. The blocking she does is wonderful. In the top page I think it is really cute how she lets just a touch of the polka dot paper show at the left of the main block. Then tops it off with 3 well placed shapes the create that design triangle!  In the lower page the idea of the crossed blocks, the big one of photos and the smaller one underneath for the title and jounraling, is really eye catching!  I am also amazed at how photogenic her bunny is!

Oh my gosh!  Isn't that just about the most precious dog face you've ever seen?! Heather has done an amazing job of capturing the character of her dog Lady in this page.  She increases the adorable factor with the addition of the perfect little embellishments. Notice how they make a design triangle too? I really like how she backed her journal spot with coordinating patterned paper.

Nancy has done an amazing job with this page about her puppy.  I love the simple background that she created,  Her placement and selection of elements gives you an idea of just how energetic that cute little pup must be! I really like how she has tucked the flowers under, and the addition of the metal buttons.  Very cute!

Finally, here is a look at our zoo. Seriously, some days, especially at feeding time, it feels like a zoo!  So I've aptly title the page "Our Zoo".  All of our pets are rescues or adopted, except the bird.  I wanted the page to have a bit of a crazy feel to it, kind of how living with all these animals (plus all the 2 legged ones) is like in our house.  So I just clustered the photos. Then I placed the scalloped circle behind it to give it a bit of defined space (that's the OCD in me).  While I have several clusters of elements about the page, they still create a design triangle to help pull the page together.

I hope you've enjoyed the zoo trip with us.  Don't forget to scrap the animals in your life. They are such an important part of our families.  If you'd like to share your animal pages with us please email them to me at scrappycath at gmail dot com. We'll include them in an upcoming Readers Pages post!
