Designer Showcase: Favorite Projects of 2012

Hi all, Pam here.  I think it's really cool to look back on old layouts and products from previous years. I asked all of the contributors to send me their favorite project of 2012. I also did this.. it was hard, but wonderful, because I got to look back at all the pages I created! So, let's take a look at what each contributor considered their favorite project of 2012. I am going to let them tell you why it is their favorite because I could go on and on about how great their projects are (can you tell I love them?).

I will start... I looked for a while at my pages and there was one page I kept coming back to. It is of my son and I just adore how it all came together.. from the sepia (ish) toned photos to the bright colors inside of the circles. Here is my favorite page because it is very special layout of my boy who was nine at the time!

Next up is a Gael's favorite from 2012! This is what she has to say about her page "I decided this was my favourite layout for 2012 because I had a lot of fun creating it and incorporating handmade flowers. The photo was taken at the Gardens in the Palace of Versailles on a trip in 2011. This was a huge tick off my bucket list as it has been a dream of mine to visit the palace so this also makes this a special moment for me. I was able to incorporate a lot of the things I love in this layout including, stamping, flowers, resin embellishments and somebling. If you look carefully I also added some stamped images on shrinkplastic which is always fun to do."

Sarah's favorite page from 2012 is next. Let's see why this is her fav.. " It is called "Love" and features Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe papers. I just love this photo and all the texture and layering of this layout."

Marlene sent in her favorite project and this is why, "Picking my favorite page of 2012 was so hard I settled for A favorite.  I like this page because I liked the perspective of the photo and designed the page to extend from that.  I love border punches and was able to showcase a few of those as well as a couple stamps.  This is a light and airy page which matches the day and the occasion of the picture.  I loved that Amy Tangerine collection (American Crafts) and used every tiny piece of it."

Lesley is up next! This is her favorite page and why, "Hi, Lesley here with my favorite item for 2012.  The reason I have chosen this layout is because I stepped outside of my zone and instead of being a 1 picture per layout person, (mainly because I don't have more than 1 relevant photo of any subject, that I can use on a page), I have actually used three on this layout.  The layout is a lot less fancy than most of mine yet I love it because of its clean lines, beautiful cute paper and of course, 3 gorgeous pictures of my granddaughter.  My challenge to me in 2013 is to try a lot harder to get more than 1 picture on a page so I can try to catch up on my thousands of pictures which need to be scrapped.  If I can do it anyone can so I hope this has inspired even just 1 reader, to go out there and use more multi pic pages."

Dolores is sharing her fav. from 2012, let's find out why! "I love this layout because I was so fortunate to get great pictures of my favorite birds, the Goldfinches.  I can watch them for hours.  The bright colors of the paper and flowers were perfect to set off the pretty yellow birds."

Here is Sharon's favorite layout and the reason why, "It was really hard to pick just one!  I chose this one because I used the lyrics from one of my favorite songs of all times, "One Day More" from the play Les Miserables!  Also, the pictures were some of my favorites that I took from 2012, too, and I took them the morning that Katie, Karen, and I sent to see the new movie version of Les Mis.  I also used some home-made felt snow flakes and sequins that were sent to me from a wonderful online friend that I met at scrapbook.com.  All of these reasons make the layout special to me!

Tanya send in her layout and explained why this is her favorite layout of 2012! "I had several favorites from 2012, but picked this one to share.  My basset hound, Droopy-Doo (who has since passed), was a notorious food thief.  My husband was sick and left a Soup At Hand container on shelf in his game room, and left the room for five minutes.  In that time, Droopy took the can to another room, opened it and licked the inside clean.  He had such an innocent look to him when we busted him! :)  I loved how the photos came out, and I designed the large die cut soup can myself.  It was also the first time I worked with mists to re-color the can and gold lettering.  Looking at the layout makes me giggle on so many levels ... hope everyone else likes it too.

Here is Cathy's fav. project and what she had to say about it, "I made this diaper cake for my niece. Using only plain cardstock, I cut out the animals, crib and pram using my Silhouette Cameo. They are each paper pieced together and embellished. For the card at the top, I created the word art in the Silhouette software and then made it into a card.  I chose this as my favorite project from last year, because it was made with so much love and hope for the birth of her son, and because it was such a fun project to create!  Here is a link to a post on my blog with more pictures and details: http://scrappycath.blogspot.com/2012/07/baby-shower-diaper-cake.html"

Cindy sent is her favorite layout.. and she said this, "This layout is my favorite for a lot of reasons.  I love how many photos I was able to include without it looking crowded.  I like the colors, the torn background, and how the pictures pop against the neutral papers.  I like the design, with one focal photo, lots of supporting photos and tons of journaling (it's typed out here) explaining why we cut our camping trip short after only 29 hours."

Last but not least is Sheila's favorite project from 2012. This is why she chose it."This is my favorite layout of 2012 for lots of reasons:  first of all, I love the pictures of my Lucie twirling around on the first day of second grade.  I had tried a new place for developing pictures, I and I love the wide white borders.  I am a person who usually scraps one picture to a page, so it was nice to have little pictures and put lots on the same page.  I also love it because it marks me rediscovering my stamps!  I stamped in several places directly ON the layout, and also stamped and then cut the stamped image out and used it.  I love arrows and chevrons, both of which are on this layout.  And I love my title---I can hear in my head her saying “look mama,” in a sweet voice!"

Now it is YOUR turn. What is your favorite project from 2012??? Wanna share it with our readers? Send it to scrappingpam73@yahoo.com with an explanation of why it's your fav! Have a great day!
