Friday Featured Artist: Winter Embellishment Freebie by Jill S.

Happy Friday and welcome to another fabulous featured artist! Our artist for this week is named Jill and I am very excited and honored to have her featured here ... we have been leaving comments on each others layouts for a while now at scrapbook.com and I have always been a BIG fan of her work. Check out her gorgeous gallery here to see some great inspiration and fabulous designs. You can also visit her neat blog here for even more creative inspiration! Also check out her sketches on her blog here as well. Let's get to know Jill better and then I will be sharing her fabulous winter FREEBIES and POST!! :)

My name is Jill Sarginson and I am from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I am married to my husband of 13 years, Dean and we have a 4 year old daughter Abigail. I started scrapbooking several years ago - cutting out photos into shapes and using cardstock and scissors. About three years ago, I discovered online galleries and blogs and what was an occasional hobby quickly turned into a major addiction! Prior to that, I had no idea that there were companies that manufactured papers (other than what the dollar store sold) and that there were these things called embellishments!!!

Over the past three years, I have completed hundreds of layouts and ventured into the area of cards, digital scrapbooking and altered items. My first passion is creating layouts - I absolutely love to preserve the precious memories of our life. I have been lucky enough to have been published 20+ times in magazines such as Canadian Scrapbooker and Scrapbook and Cards today in addition to a Memory Makers idea book coming out in Spring 2011.

Besides scrapbooking, my other activities include spending time with my family and playing sports. I play soccer several times a week and if I'm not scrapping or playing soccer, you can probably find me in the gym. Other things I love to do include: blogging, surfing the internet, reading, crafting with my daughter, hiking and spending time at our cottage.

Winter Embellishment Freebie by Jill S.

Over the past couple of years, I've started making my own embellishments.  Embellishments are often the finishing touch on your layout but are often the most expensive thing on there.  Because I am cheap ... or thrifty ... okay, let's just say cheap, I decided to start making my own embellishments.  With my background of digital scrapbooking and knowledge of Photoshop, it wasn't that hard.  When I contacted Pam about being a guest blogger, she suggested that I make a set of winter embellishments for her blog followers.  So here you go:

There are 17 embellishments included on this sheet of 8.5x11 paper for you to print and use on your projects.  Note that these embellishments would work well with Echo Park's Wintertime papers or a bunch of other winter collections!

Here are some close-ups:

Here is a card I made with these embellishments:

Notes about using my freebie printables:
  • they are made on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.  Just simply save the download to your computer and print.
  • print on cardstock (you can purchase 8.5x11 sheets of white) or print on photo paper.
  • you will need to cut these images out.  I try to make all of my images simple so that they are easy to cut out.  Should you wish to hide any uneven cutting, simply ink the edges.
  • consider pop-dotting them off your project so they stand out more
  • use small brads for the center of the photo holders - do not cut it out - just pierce a hold and the brad will cover the white space up.
  • the red tags are created with a white border however you cannot see them because of the white background.  When cutting them, consider leaving a white edge around them.

I'd like to thank Pam for the opportunity for me to guest blog here today!  I'd also like to invite you to come over and check my blog out.  I have several freebies posted there including some for Valentine's Day, The Daily Record, Calendar tags, and Halloween.
