A fun template with layered waves!

My life has been so busy and full of changes.  Scrapbooking has been one of the consistent joys in my life even when things get turned upside down.  That is why sharing with you and hearing from many of you is so special.  Today I have a template that is really simple but full of possibilities.  This is a layered waves template.  Here is my layout titled "Hold on to your Dreams."
I really like mixing prints and solid paper together and the layered waves here are ideal for showing off some of those pretty papers you have been holding on to.  My layout was done using a kit called "Au Natural" by Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Scrap Kitchen Designs.  I liked the calm blues and greens in these papers.  They remind me of Spring and I look forward to if after the long winter.  Here is my sketch of the layout.
Just right click the image to save it to your computer.  For paper scrapbooks I isolated the two wave layers and put them on a separate page so you could trace them and cut out those cool waves.  Here is an image of just the two waves.
For our digital scrapbookers I have created a Photoshop Elements file (.PSD) that you can  download.  Please click the link below to download the file.

Hope you enjoy the template.  Try scrapping some of your dreams!!

Free Disney

I love Disney and I have had photos from our family trip for years! Someday I will finish the book???? Lol
Meanwhile, here is a great find at your local HOME DEPOT to make some cute fun Disney lo’s FREE!
I happen to be walking in the paint department at HOME DEPOT and Mickey Mouse jumped right out at me….while not literally….but these cute paint color samples happen to be a perfect and fast way to get those mouse ears on your next Disney layout.
You can cut them out but they actually just peel right off the backing making the work twice as easy! So next time you have to go for your man to HOME DEPOT, be sure to pick up your FREE Mickey Mouse’s too… BTW they come in many other colors…

Here is an example on a layout:

 Hope you enjoy!

February Template One

Hello everyone! I'm back with another sketch and matching template. This time I had a bunch of help creating example layouts and I can't wait to share them with you! Here is the sketch... All you have to do is right click on the image and click "Save As" if you would like to save it to your computer.

First, I have two of my own example layouts to share! This layout is a paper one and I used the Scraptastic Club "Boys Will Be Boys" kit.

This is the digital one I created with Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl line. I'm still so excited that they are releasing all of their lines digitally!

My friend (And fellow contributing artist!) Nancy created this gorgeous layout of her daughter eating fondue. The title totally makes me smile and I love how she used the boy themed papers on a girlie layout.

This layout was created by my friend Janie who is on the Scraptastic Club DT with me. Her son is absolutely adorable and I love all of the extra bling she added to this layout. She's one of the reasons I had to go out and buy an i-rock!

Last but not least is Juliann! She's also on the Scraptastic Club DT with me where I asked for contributions this month! I love that she converted my sketch to work with an 8.5x11 sized layout. The little robot embellishment she used is perfect. Too cute!

Thank you so much for helping me provide example layouts girls! I really appreciate it.

If you are a digital scrapbooker and would like to download the layered digital template that I created in Photoshop Elements to match the sketch please click on the link below.

The Punk Flower Tutorial by Marilyn

Voy a mostrarles como hice estas flores. Hay muchos tutoriales con diferentes estilos para hacer flores, yo las trabajo de esta manera.

I will show you how I did these flowers. There are many tutorials with different styles to make flowers, I work it in this way.

Materiales: a flower punch- 3 flowers(2 inches) 1flower(1inch), a stick, chalk ink(cat eye), spray bottle fill with water, heat gun.

En la otra flor enrollar los petalos en direccion contraria.
On the other flower roll the petals in the opposite direction.

Debe quedar asi..
It should be like this...

Dobla cada pétalo hacia arriba, como en la foto.
Fold each petal facing up, like in the picture.

Rociarle un poquito de agua.
Spray it with a bit of water.

Dejarlo secar o usa tu heat gun.
Leave it drying or use a heat gun.

Con cuidado dobla los pétalos.
Carefully fold the petals.

Coloca una flor encima de la otra con los petalos doblados en direccion opuesta.
Put one of the flowers on top of the other with the petals folded in opposite direction.

Debe quedar asi..
It should be like this...

Le añadimos la tercera flor y entonces le ponemos el centro de la flor (la flor pequeña).

Add the third flower and then put the center of the flower (the small flower).

Y ya tenemos nuestras flores. Espero les halla gustado, Gracias por pasar por aquí!
Cariños,
Marilyn
We now have our flowers. I hope you have enjoy, Thanks for stopping by!!

Designer Showcase: Using a Sketch

Wednesday's kind of get lost in the middle of the week, don't they?  Well we're spicing up Wednesdays even more with another new recurring feature here at Ideas For Scrapbookers!!  Every other month (6 times a year), on one of the Designer Showcase Wednesdays we will be sharing a sketch with you that was created by one of the Contributing Artists.  But that's not all.....  we will also be sharing inspiration by several of the Contributing Artists.  Each of us will create a project using that sketch as our inspiration. Just a little something extra special to help jump start your mojo!  It is really fun to see how many different looks you can get when each artist starts with the same base.  I think it is really fascinating.

This month was my turn to create a sketch. I decided to use a rather simple design. I also made it a personal challenge for me. I tend to put lots of photos on my pages. scrapping just one photo is actually a challenge for me! So I only created a spot for one photo.

However, the sketch is simple enough that you can embellish it with additional photos if desired.

Here are the layouts that each of the artists made from this sketch.
Vicky created this peaceful page that evokes those powerful emotions that you feel as you await the birth or arrival of your child. Vicky flipped the sketch to have the design work well with her photo so that the subject is facing in toward the page.  That really deepens the emotions conveyed on her page. So beautiful with the dimension of the flowers and the gentle swirling lines of the branches.
I really like how Heather has added flow and depth to her page with the shapes and patterns of the papers she chose. She also added and shifted some elements.  It's as if your eyes are magically escorted about her page to view all the details and yet come to rest on the fabulous photo of her daughter.

Nancy's page packs a punch!  I'm not just talking about her daughters expression, which is priceless and so well teamed with her title!  But the way she has pulled all the elements together really brings home the message of this memory.  I just love her selection of patterned papers, they complement the page without distracting from the mood, but then again, with a cute face like that, how could you get distracted?
This page by Sara has so many fine details.  Her use of brilliant colors and subtle patterns allows them to all blend together to create an artistic feel. I really like the playing card journal spot and background, doesn't that add such a vintage feel to this page?
Lastly is what I created with the sketch.  The layers in the center worked well with the Steelers uniform stripes so I did a page about my youngest and his love for his favorite team.  I framed the photo with a cluster of elements and a bunting banner above.  And I'm proud to say that I met my own challenge and kept the page to just one single photo!

I hope that this gives you some ideas for projects that you can do with this sketch as well.  You can download both the layers .psd file (for digi scrapping) and the .jpg sketch (for traditional scrapping) by clicking HERE.

We would love to see what you create too!  So if you use the sketch, please share your creations with us by sending an email to: scrappingpam73@yahoo.com   Perhaps your project will be featured on an upcoming Reader's Pages post!
