Looking through a window!

Today I would like to share how I created a layout with the illusion that my photo was looking through a window.

I look for inspiration everywhere, and my pages usually start with some sort of inspiration.  This came from a page in my 2012 Mary Engelbreit calendar:

I loved this image, and used it as the basis for my layout.  

Here are the steps I used to make my page:

First, instead of siding, I wanted my background to resemble bricks.  I started with paper that I loved from 7 Dots Studios:

Then I got out my brick template:

and spritzed the background with "Goosebumps" spray and Moon Shadow "Long John Silver" mist to give it subtle color and texture:

I created the window frame with one half of a piece of a chipboard gate that I had:

I cut out the parts that I didn't want and ended up with this:

To create a window box,  I used cardboard from an old box and cut out flowers and borders from the Pink Paislee Indigo Blue collection:

and I made this:

Finally, I wanted to make the shutters for my window.  I used Bo Bunny paper and brads that I had on hand:

And the final results of my shutters look like this:
