Good Fortunes
There is so much to celebrate this week.... Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year! We had a little Chinese celebration at our house. We enjoyed some wonderful Chinese cooking. I love getting to use my wok. The kids thought the best part was the fortune cookies! We had fun cracking open the cookies and taking turns reading out wonderful fortunes to each other. I saved the little slips to put on a scrapbook page, of course! They would make great journaling strips too. I decided to make a page that represented the fun we had and highlights the "real" fortune in my life, my kids!
I've created a template for the Chinese fan in both a PDF format for traditional scrapbooking and a layered PSD file for use with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. I used the Photoshop template to arrange my photos and fan background. I then printed it out and trimmed it. I created the spines for the fan using thin strips of cardstock and a brad. I cut out the shape for the take-out box and attached some beading wire. Sketched a bowl on the back of patterned paper, cut it out, inked the edges and attached to the layout with pop-dots. The fortune cookies can be made easily using a circle punch. Ink the edges, fold the circle in half attaching with glue and pinch the center. Instant fortune cookie!
Hope this inspires you to have fun capturing your celebrations!
